Confidentiality and security of personal information

By participating in Let’s chat, you share information with us when you register for and participate in activities and when you contact us. Our collection, use and disclosure of your personal information is governed by the Act respecting Access to documents held by public bodies and the Protection of personal information (CQLR, c. A-2.1).

What personal information do we collect on the platform?

Registration information and the data required for participation.
When you register, we ask that you provide a username, email address and password. You must also check an “I am not a robot” box (reCaptcha technology).

Public profile information.
The username that you choose at registration will be visible on the platform and on your profile page, which you may add to. To edit and personalize your profile, only if you wish, you may add a profile picture, biography, location, website and links to your social media profiles.

Contributions.
You may participate by posting contributions. These contributions allow us to get to know the views of those registered on the platform. Their contents and dates and times of publication are made public, unless otherwise specified, and attached to your profile.

Connection log.
User data (IP address, connection and user logs) are collected automatically on the platform.

Cookies.
See Cookies.

For what purpose is this information collected?

Personal information is collected for the purpose of participation management and quantitative and qualitative analysis of contributions for Parlons-en (Let's chat) activities.

The registration information provided allows us to manage your account on the platform, conduct authentication procedures, provide forgotten passwords, and to process any requests you may have.

Your email address must be confirmed in order to complete your registration and will not be made public.

The Captcha tool automatically protects the platform from mass registrations.

How long is information kept?

Identifying information is kept for the duration of your registration on the platform until you delete your account or the platform closes.

Otherwise, you are informed that the personal information we collect may be made anonymous and kept for statistical purposes. If not, they will be permanently deleted. We may publish, disclose and use the aggregated information (data that has been combined in such a way that it can no longer be identified or attached to any individual) and non-personal information for the purpose of analyzing participation on the platform and to justify the decisions we make following each phase of a given project.

Note: You will not be able to modify your contributions after the activity is closed. If you delete your account, your contributions will appear under “user deleted.”

If you would like to save all of the information and contributions you have posted on the platform, you may request a downloadable copy in table format, under Settings > Information > Export.

The platform is designed so that you can directly manage your personal information.

By default, your public profile is not indexed by search engines. If you would like to change this setting, you may do so in your account settings (check the box on the Profile tab under Account Settings).

If you do not wish to be identifiable, we recommend that you use a pseudonym for your username and do not show your face in your profile picture, post links to your personal social media accounts, or provide any information that could allow someone to identify you directly or indirectly. Finally, we wish to remind you that your passwords on this platform are personal, unique, confidential and non-transferable. They are not to be shared, given, sold or transferred.
